I have to bother you but I have no one else to ask for advice and help.
Vicky is a young female paralysed cat found on the streets in Sofia. My veterinarians made her x-rays and some other examinations with contrast substance to find out why she can't walk and why she is incontinent. But their x-ray machine is probably not good enough and they could not find the reason. They wanted me to take a decision for euthanasia because there are no people here who would adopt such cat
. Meanwhile a woman from other organisation offered me to send Vicky to Austria to e very good neurosurgeon who managed to repair many other badly injured dogs and cats in the past. The people there made her an expensive MRT and found out that her spine is broken in 3 places:
"Katze gelähmt, 3 mal Becken gebrochen.
Wir warten noch auf Information Spezialist Dr. Lorinson, Wien.
Ein MRT kostet € 600,--. Eine Operation 3-4.000,-- Euro."
They still wanted to make consultations with other doctors to see if there are chances for operation and for Vicky to be healthy again. Yesterday evening the bad news arrived:
They can't (or don't want) to keep her and search home for her under these circumstances. Now they are waiting for my decision if I want her back in Bulgaria or they should euthanize her. There are no possible adopters or foster homes here for such cats and I really have no idea what to do. The "easiest" way out of this situation is to give them permission to put an end to her life but I just can't do it ... For sure not before trying my best to give her a chance to live.
Do you know someone who might be interested to take care of Vicky? Or at least take her for a while as a foster carer?
All the best and once again sorry for bothering you,
Maria
